The Marin School: Personalized High School Education at its Best, College Prep Since 1981
Our mission is to provide a collaborative learning community that inspires confidence, creativity, integrity, and academic excellence through a deep belief in each student’s potential.
WELCOMING, INCLUSIVE COMMUNITY: At TMS each student is seen and celebrated for who they are, as they are. This warm, welcoming culture lays a foundation where self-confidence, personal growth, creativity, and learning can thrive.
WE BELIEVE A COLLEGE PREP CURRICULUM GOES BEYOND THE CLASSROOM: By equally prioritizing the mastering of content and subject matter, and teaching students how to think, reason, interpret, analyze, and improvise, TMS graduates leave with the future-ready skills needed to embark on life’s journey as thoughtful, confident, contributing members of the global community.
WE TAKE A CREATIVE APPROACH TO EVERYTHING WE DO: Creativity is encouraged and embraced at all levels of the learning process, in the classrooms and across disciplines. The Marin School teachers are empowered to teach, and students are free to learn in surprising and non-traditional, yet thoroughly effective ways. We celebrate project-based learning and STEM programming, including integrative use of coding and hands-on tools in our Fab Lab and coding classes.
WE ARE A SMALL SCHOOL BY DESIGN. Our small class size (9 average) and low-student-to teacher ratio (8-to-1 average), naturally encourage more personalized teaching, experiential learning, innovative lessons and non-traditional, yet effective, learning opportunities.
WE HONOR THE INDIVIDUAL LEARNING STYLE OF EACH STUDENT: We are committed to creating a community of learners that embraces neurodiversity and supports a variety of learning strengths. Our faculty and staff know that not everyone learns in the same way. As a result, creative approaches for teaching and learning are cornerstone values of The Marin School.
“The Marin School offers the extraordinary opportunity to learn in an atmosphere that is warm, individualized and happy. Students here are deeply engaged with both their work and their teachers. This is what education should look like.” -Madeline Levine , Ph.D., Author of The Price of Privilege and Teach Your Children Well
