San Francisco Shakespeare Festival announces the return of Bay Area Shakespeare Camp for ages 11-13 at this wildly popular location! Campers meet July 24-Aug 4, weekdays, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Precare (8:30-9am), scripts, costumes, and supplies for the performance are all included!

Whether this is your first time at a theatre summer camp or you’re returning for another awesome summer with us, Shakespeare Camp has something for everyone. During the 2-week session, campers study Shakespeare’s theatre in a fun and supportive atmosphere. Professional theatre practitioners lead interactive classes in Shakespeare’s poetry, clowning traditions, and stage combat. On the final day campers will perform their own abridged version Shakespeare’s classic comedy, As You Like It. Family and friends are encouraged to attend the performance in the park’s dramatic outdoor amphitheater.

Also available (in San Francisco) for experienced performers ages 11-18 is the Advanced Shakespeare Workshop, July 10-Aug 4. Participants take a deep dive into the themes and language of Shakespeare and engage in a thorough examination of character motives and objectives, along with intensive voice, movement, text, and monologue work. The program culminates in an hour-long performance of Shakespeare’s epic romantic adventure, Cymbeline. Family and friends are invited to attend the show. More info at sfshakes.org.
