Katharine Davies Samway is a freelance reporter and correspondent with Oakland Voices. For many years, she was a professor of education at San José State University, where she focused on English learners, including immigrants, and literacy development. Since retiring, she has been able to spend more time writing, which she finds particularly enjoyable and satisfying.
