Questions abound about the local vaccine rollout and many residents are concerned about things like the safety of the vaccine, the potential health impact of business reopenings, and new virus mutations that may or may not be controllable with the current vaccines.

Reporters at The Oaklandside have been working hard to keep Oaklanders as informed as possible about COVID-19 and the vaccine rollout: Our health contributor Sarah Belle Lin, along with the rest of our staff, continues to update our post with answers to frequently asked questions about the local vaccine rollout. Our news editor Darwin BondGraham obtained data from the Alameda County coroner’s office showing who has died in Oakland from COVID-19. Our reporter Azucena Rasilla has continued to update our guide to free COVID testing sites in the city. And we’ve explored how the pandemic is impacting and intersecting with the lives of residents across all of our news beats

But with information changing daily, it can feel impossible to keep up with every new development. We also know that Oaklanders have their own questions that need to be answered. That’s why next week, we’ll be hosting a live conversation on Instagram with Alameda County’s top health officer, Dr. Nicholas Moss, where we’ll be relaying questions directly from viewers. We hope you can join us and share yours.

What: A live Q&A with Dr. Nicholas Moss, Health Officer for Alameda County

When: Wednesday, February 10, from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.

Where: You can watch the Q&A and submit questions live via chat on The Oaklandside Instagram page: @theoaklandside
